Boasting a rich history, the city of Suffolk is home to six historic districts and seven individual properties that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places such as the Glebe Episcopal Church and Riddick's Folly House Museum, which once served as a headquarters for the Union during the Civil War.
Though proud of its past, Suffolk is also excited for its future. Its location in the Hampton Roads region has attracted many new businesses and employees, as the area promises a great potential for growth and prosperity. A prime destination for new residents, the population is expected to more than double over the next 20 years.
The Suffolk Public School system provide students an extensive curriculum with 12 elementary, four middle, and three high schools - each committed to teaching learners the skills to become successful and productive members of society. Higher learning opportunities located within the city of Suffolk include two community colleges - Paul D. Camp Community College and Tidewater Community College - that offer associate degrees in several fields of study. The Hampton Roads region also provides 11 more colleges and universities to choose from for those wanting to stay close to home. |
